211 studio assigment:
IPTS STANDARD 2-CONTENT AREA & PEDAGOGICAL KNOWLEDGE- The competent teacher has in-depth understanding of content area knowledge that includes central concepts, methods of inquiry, structures of the disciplines, and content area literacy. The teacher creates meaningful learning experiences for each student based upon interactions among content area and pedagogical knowledge, and evidence-based practice.
Description: Here is the example of my own work for the students project. Since it was a digital editing assignment, mine is a video where I am recording my own script and work and then adding my own editing touches over it to make it more fun and personable for the students.
Rationale: Each of the students are required to make their own video for the class, so being able to gage an idea of what to say, what different editing ideas they can use and will have access to, as well as just having a general example to be able to look back on and see is very helpful for the students, especially those who struggle with being in front of a camera or being filmed.
Evidence: Provided below is a link to my example video given out to the students to have as a reference point.

211 unit plan:
ISTP (2013) - STANDARD 1 - Teaching Diverse Students - The competent teacher understands the diverse characteristics and abilities of each student and how individuals develop and learn within the context of their social, economic, cultural, linguistic, and academic experiences. The teacher uses these experiences to create instructional opportunities that maximize student learning.
Description: For my unit plan, the focus was in a digital media class, where me and my two other groupmates taught for about 3 1/2 weeks, splitting up each week by a different set in the unit, where at the end the students will have created their own news broadcasts, using a mix of recording and editing processes.
Rationale: Week 1 was focused on the students learning many of the different skills they would need for the project like, how to create storyboards, scripts writing, and different camera angles they can use. For the following week they focused primarily on the actual recording process, given the students plenty of time to work on re recording portions, taking as many takes as possible, and being able to help others with holding cameras or printed scripts in necessary. Week 3 the students took on the role of the editing process, working on using the editing program provided, to add any transitions, extra photos, or green screening any other qualities they needed to their videos. We then as a class spend the last half week watching each of the students videos and giving constructive feedback back to the students as a class.
Evidence: Linked here is some of the projects the students have created as well as some of the prep work they worked on.

211 studio Assigment assesment:
IPTS (2013) - STANDARD 7- Assessment -The competent teacher understands and uses appropriate formative and summative assessment for determining student needs, monitoring student progress, measuring student growth, and evaluating student outcomes. The teacher makes decisions driven by data about curricular and instructional effectiveness and adjusts practices to meet the needs of each student.
Description: For this lesson, the students were given both a formative and a summative assessment. The formative assessment was given to them via paper before they began the project, after watching a few selected videos from the selected artists and answering different prompts about ideas like transitions used, body language of those speaking, visual stylistic choices, etc. Their summative assessment was then given to them via google forms, at the very end of the project being done, where they had a quick overview of their process, things they individually liked as well as disliked about the project, and any other notes they had.
Rationale: The formative assessment was a greatly important step for the students to do before the beginning of the project, not only because it helped them begin to form their own ideas on what to add, as well as to take note of during the project, but it also helped them to get interested in what the project had to offer for them in terms of creativity. Being able to see the videos of other people in their general age range doing broadcasts and doing what they were about to work on is something that can help build reassurance for any nervous students unsure of how to go about this process. I also firmly believe that the summative assessment is great for the students, since you are able to get genuine feedback on the lesson via the students. As a teacher its extremely helpful to hear about what went well, what to work on further, what the students liked vs. disliked, etc. to help improve the lesson for the future, and if its something that the students enjoyed.
Evidence: Down here I have provided two different links, one to the formative assessment which was for the students before the lesson, and the other being the summative assessment for them afterwards.

Artist Handout & Powerpoint
IPTS (2013) -STANDARD 6- Reading, Writing, and Oral Communication-The competent teacher has foundational knowledge of reading, writing, and oral communication within the content area and recognizes and addresses student reading, writing, and oral communication needs to facilitate the acquisition of content knowledge.
Description: We had a daily powerpoint set up for the students each day when they arrived into class, with each day labeled per slide as well as what week the students were on. On the students google classroom there was also a student handout provided to them all including the artists we were referencing, in this case many different student/kid led news stations.
Rationale: We chose to stick with daily goals as well as a week based timeline for the presentation portion of classes, to help the students have a general idea of what to expect for class each day, with basic notes on what each day was going to bring and one of us would then orally explain to the students in depth what was expected per class, what was needed to be turned in, what they would need to work on during the class period, as well as any prep work for the next upcoming day. We also decided to stick with the students having access to the artist handout, as well as any other tools they needed, on their google classroom since for this particular class many of them struggled with holding onto physical paper assignment's for long, as well as since the project was primarily based online, as well as the class being a digital media class, the students were much more used to having their google classroom as their access point for the majority of their assignment's already.
Evidence: Down here I have provided two different links, one to the handout which was for the students, and the other being the unit presentation as a whole.

PAL 1 ISTP (2013) -STANDARD 9- The competent teacher is an ethical and reflective practitioner who exhibits professionalism; provides leadership in the learning community; and advocated for students, parents or guardians, and the profession.
Description: Research Paper on the growth and development that different forms of art, that being visual, performative, etc. is beneficial to the growing mind and therefore is important to keep in education system as a whole for the next generations to experience and express freely.
Rationale: Being someone within the art field themselves, I can see how all these different forms of art have shaped my perspective on the world and my perspective on myself in a very positive way. Now in our day to day lives, where technology is on the forefront of peoples minds, and more and more schools around the globe deciding to take art classes out of their schools due to funding, expensises, lack of attention, etc. It's More important now more than ever to remind everyone what art can do for the brain, your sense of self, and your sense of the world. Evidence: A link to that paper will be provided here for you to see if you are interested! |
Description: viewing an exhibit at the Art Gallery in Uptown Normal, about many of the different photographs that the building keeps on file, stemming all the way back to the 1930s and 1940s.
Rationale: Seeing these different works was extremely beneficial for me, being a person who is interested in photography, as well as my father being a photographer himself, being able to see different phots throughout the ages, the different poses and ideas the people took to them, and the way each camera worked for the photographs is so interesting and has encouraged me to look more into photography as a medium in the future to use for my own projects, as well as something to teach students about in the future, as digital media becomes more and more important in our daily lives. Evidence: A link to the art galleries website is provided here to see their records of owning these different pieces. |
PROFFESIONALISM, ADVOCACY, & LEADERSHIP: PAL 1
PAL 1 ISTP (2013) -STANDARD 9- The competent teacher is an ethical and reflective practitioner who exhibits professionalism; provides leadership in the learning community; and advocated for students, parents or guardians, and the profession.
Description: Currently, as of the Spring of 2024, have one of my ceramic works on display within the art gallery at ISU, the display is an vase, about 12-14 inches tall, that I designed with a blue/teal glaze, different white and gold dot patterns in a linear shape, meant to be a subtle nod towards a personal story to me, with red roses surrounding these shapes.
Rationale: For me, roses are a huge and continuing motif in many of my art pieces, I use these to nod towards different emotions, my mentality towards situations or ideals, etc. this including the roping patterns of dots are meant to symbolize my struggle with dealing with scoliosis and my goal to make it look like a beautiful thing, rather than the struggle it can be. Evidence: Here is a video of the project, as well as photos of it within the gallery listed here. |
Description: Currently, I run my own art instagram account, and though it has little followers, I use it as a personal outlet for many of my artistic pieces that I don't have the ability to show elsewhere. Since this is my second account, my first being deleted about a year ago for my own reasons, I now have a few different posts showing my more recent work where I focus on different portraiture, and other more abstract drawings and designs I like to work with.
Rationale: In a world of growing media and technology use, being able to have a place where I can show my work and be lucky enough to have others see it is something I am extremly grateful for. Being able to have access to artwork out there in the world is really amazing when you take a look at it. Evidence: Here is a link to my art account, where I try to post timely updates to my artwork, as well as any big projects I am currently working on. |
